OneRepublic Announce Oh My My Release Date

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s felt like forever since OneRepublic released their last record, Native, which burst onto the mainstream in 2013. Already with multiple top ten singles under their belt, Native nabbed them another few, with songs like “Counting Stars” and “Love Runs Out.” Are more hits now in the band’s future? We’ll soon find out as OneRepublic’s new album, titled Oh My My, is scheduled to arrive on October 7th via Mosely Music/Interscope Records.

Oh My My’s production began in late 2014, where the band started writing and recording the record in Poland. Singer and hit maker Ryan Tedder told publications that the follow-up to Native was “going to go in a whole new direction” and that it’s “the best thing they’ve ever done.” But when is there ever a time that a band doesn’t think their new material is their best? Luckily, we have a couple of tracks to make some early judgments off of already: “Wherever I Go,” and the new single, “Kids.”

“Wherever I Go” has a flair to it that’s more Bruno Mars than it is OneRepublic, while “Kids” features acoustic guitar and an explosive but atmospheric chorus, making it a classic Tedder-penned jam. The music video for “Kids” just debuted, too, and the clip depicts the pop group at various landmarks around Mexico City, like the Angel of Independence and The Monument to the Revolution.

OneRepublic was recently announced as one of the ten acts that will be performing at the upcoming Apple Music Festival. The festival, which will also feature Elton John, Britney Spears, and Chance The Rapper, will take place September 18th through September 30th.
