Ratatat is the kind of electronic/indie act that held a steady spot in the scene’s collective playlist at the end of the last decade, but faded into obscurity as soon as EDM crossed over into the mainstream in the beginning of the next. Fans rejoiced when the duo debuted their first new track in four years during their set at Coachella last month, and it turns out that it was an indicator more to come as they have just revealed the release date for an upcoming album as well.
Their new album, Magnifique, will be the first since their 2010 release of LP4 – and considering their generous placement throughout the North American festival circuit this summer, the announcement comes as less of a surprise to industry insiders as it does to Ratatat fans. If the official trailer (seen above) is any indication, the new album will showcase the eery pitch bending harmonies and instrumental fusion of their earlier work – and hopefully new, exciting elements as well.
Magnifique comes out on July 17th and you can pre-order your copy here. Tell us, are you looking forward to Ratatat‘s new album? Sound off below!
