The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the official music video for their new single The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. For their first music video in four years, the band takes to a rooftop in Venice Beach, California.

“We wanted to go be outside and be free and play and see what happened.” Flea said, “We knew that if we just got with our nature of where we live that it would be beautiful. We shot it on 16mm film, which really gave it a nice look, and we love each other, we love playing our music and we love our song.” Kiedis continued, “It’s a nice place to be. There are palm trees, there are waves, there are people. I think [drummer] Chad Smith brought the grit.”

The song itself is classic Red Hot Chili Peppers. Opening with a nifty bass line from Flea before Anthony Kiedis’ vocals eventually kick in, backed by new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer’s catchy chords and drummer Chad Smith’s steady beat. The infectious chorus makes this funky rock track radio friendly and turns it into a guaranteed hit.

As for the video, it’s simple but effective. The premise isn’t original by any means but truthfully, it’s just great to see another Red Hot Chili Peppers music video. The band has been away for far too long and I can’t wait to hear their new album, I’m With You, which is set to hit stores on August 30th in North America.
