The recent global success of Australian electronic music acts like Flume and Chet Faker has provided a platform by which others can reach wider audiences, and Ta-Ku and Wafia appear to be next in line. The Perth-based DJ/producer and Brisbane-based vocalist have delivered the first single from their upcoming (m)edian EP titled “Meet In The Middle.”
A serene R&B song with vague future bass leanings, “Meet In The Middle” is largely driven by a lyrical exchange between Ta-Ku and Wafia. The rest of the arrangement serves as little more than a backdrop, but Ta-Ku’s keen attention to sound design elements is evident all the same.
Ta-Ku and Wafia released “Meet In The Middle” ahead of their Vivid LIVE performance at the Sydney Opera House on June 3rd. The five-track (m)edian EP, meanwhile, is slated for release through renowned Australian independent record label Future Classic on June 24th.
