Amazon Leaves Nintendo’s Wii U Out In The Cold

Gamers have to be wondering what Nintendo did to earn the cold shoulder from Amazon, the world's largest online retailer. As Joystiq reports, the website is withholding its users from pre-ordering the upcoming Wii U. This news comes after it already stopped carrying the 3DS and skipped the 3DS XL altogether. Clearly, there is some deeper reason behind all of this, but Amazon is keeping quiet.

Gamers have to be wondering what Nintendo did to earn the cold shoulder from Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer. As Joystiq reports, the website is withholding its users from pre-ordering the upcoming Wii U. This news comes after it already stopped carrying the 3DS and skipped the 3DS XL altogether. Clearly, there is some deeper reason behind all of this, but Amazon is keeping quiet.

The following message is all curious consumers have been told on the matter:

“Thank for you signing up to be notified when the Wii U is available. Unfortunately the Wii U console is not available at Amazon.com at this time but please check back in the future, as availability may change.”

UK users, in an even stranger turn of events,  are able to pre-order both the Basic and Premium units of the Wii U for £249 and £299 respectively. Attempts have been made to get a quote from Amazon regarding this unquestionably odd situation but, so far, have proven fruitless.

Whatever the rationale behind it, Best Buy and Gamestop are more than happy to take all the Wii U pre-orders that Amazon won’t be giving out.
