Choplifter HD Is Now Available For Take-Off

I mentioned when I reviewed BurgerTime World Tour that I was a fan of Konami's new idea of remaking old classic games for today's crowd. Next up is the classic helicopter simulator Choplifter, in the form of Choplifter HD.

I mentioned when I reviewed BurgerTime World Tour that I was a fan of Konami‘s new idea of remaking old classic games for today’s crowd. Next up is the classic helicopter simulator Choplifter, in the form of Choplifter HD.

Now available on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC for $14.99 or 1200 MSP, the game features some high-octane action gameplay with the thrill of piloting a military copter. I’m currently working on a review of the game, which we’ll have for you by the end of the week.

The full press release is as follows.

CHOPLIFTER HD TAKES TO THE SKIES!

Action-Packed Helicopter Classic Now Available on PlayStation® Network, Xbox Live® Arcade and PC

Newport Beach, CA – January 11, 2011 – inXile Entertainment today announced that the highly anticipated Choplifter HD is now available for download via PlayStation® Network, Xbox Live® Arcade and PC for $14.99/1200 Microsoft points.  Choplifter HD is developed by inXile Entertainment, who is publishing the PlayStation® Network and PC versions, and co-publishing the Xbox Live® Arcade version with Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

“We really focused on returning to our old school gaming roots with Choplifter HD,” said Brian Fargo, CEO of InXile Entertainment.  “We made sure to have plenty of variety in missions, choppers and enemies, while lacing in those special moments that we love here at InXile. Choplifter HD is the kind of game that WE want to play!  We are very proud of the experience we created and I can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on it!”

What the press are saying about Choplifter HD:

Choplifter HD is all about action, skill and simple but challenging gameplay…I already scratched the same itch as Trials HD and Geometry Wars.”

– Machinima / Inside Gaming

“The gang at inXile should be pretty proud of themselves. From the very beginning, this feels like a logical extension of Dan Gorlin’s original Choplifter! into the modern age. It may have flashy HD graphics and be full of cool explosions, but it’s stillChoplifter and that’s a good thing. Make sure you check it out when it releases on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam.”

– Destructoid

“Part flight game, part side scrolling shooter, Choplifter HD has an old school arcade feel with modern 3D design that will aim to please.”
