CVNT5 Take Down DJ Mag In New Mockumentary

Gareth Emery and Ashley Walbridge made quite a splash earlier in the year when they announced their faux side group CVNT5, a project that takes aim at the fakeness of DJ culture in the era of EDM. Their debut single and music video touched on the infamous practice of ghost producing, while providing plenty of laughs along the way. Now the duo are calling out DJ Mag's controversial Top 100 list with an outrageous new mockumentary.

Now the duo are calling out DJ Mag’s controversial Top 100 list with an outrageous new mockumentary.

Over the course of nine and a half minutes, CVNT5 attempt to become the number one DJs in the world as they campaign for DJ Mag’s annual list. Naturally, there are plenty of ridiculous antics as Emery and Walbridge deliver their best DJ spin on Spinal Tap, while they set up a DJ Mag voting sweatshop in Vietnam in order to rig the contest. The video ends with a particularly nasty dig at Marshmello.

The mockumentary serves as a criticism of DJ Mag’s notorious practices, which came to a boiling point last year when Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike took home the gold under dubious circumstances. With plenty of laughs and a poignant commentary on the state of the dance music community, CVNT5‘s latest video is a thoroughly enjoyable watch.
