If you’re a DC fan and happen to like free books, well, it looks like you’re going to have a rather joyous spring, doubly so if you love Wonder Woman.

By now, I’m pretty sure everyone here is familiar with the concept of Free Comic Book Day. If not, here’s the gist of it: Every year on the first Saturday in May, all of the top comic book publishers send out a title or two for participating retailers to hand out. Not only does this provide an opportunity to reel in new readers, but it also increases foot traffic in those shops, kind of making it the industry’s equivalent of Black Friday.

Interestingly enough, June 3 will bring something similar to the table when the first Wonder Woman Day is scheduled to be celebrated. Arriving a day after the major motion picture debuts in cinemas, a couple more free books will be available for consumption.

While it’s been established that folks venturing into participating stores will be able to procure copies of Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1, a reprint of Wonder Woman #1 by Greg Rucka and Liam Sharp, and DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1, which includes an excerpt from the upcoming graphic novel DC Super Hero Girls Vol. 3: Summer Olympus, written by Shea Fontana with art and a new cover by Yancey Labat, the rest of the festivities have remained shrouded in mystery until today.

Here are a few more details culled from a recent press release:

DC has teamed up with an array of retail partners including, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Walmart, Costco and Amazon for exclusive in-store and digital promotions to create the ultimate “Wonder Woman Day” experience. Cross-divisional activations will also include Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, alongside key partners including Six Flags Theme Parks, to further spotlight the groundbreaking DC Super Hero.

Marquee comic writers and artists will also participate in special events to mark “Wonder Woman Day,” including Greg Rucka, Phil Jimenez, Cliff Chiang, Shea Fontana, Marc Andreyko, and Cat Staggs. Plus, exclusive Wonder Woman tiaras and bracelets will be available at select retailers.

Actually, the fun won’t be contained to June 3 alone, as DC All Access will be airing specials on YouTube all week, May 29 – June 3, to “spotlight essential books, sit down with key talent from the Wonder Woman feature film, and also discuss the iconic character’s legacy with acclaimed comic writers and artists.”
