Today, Blizzard Entertainment made the announcement that the closed beta testing for their highly anticipated action RPG, Diablo III is now underway.

Diablo III will see players once again enter the struggle to save the world of Sanctuary from the evil forces of the Burning Hells. The closed beta will have players fight through Act I of the game as any of the five hero classes: barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk or demon hunter. There’s also an opportunity to battle it out with the Skeleton King, either solo or with the help of allies. Participants will have the opportunity to meet some of the artisans, followers and other key characters while also trying out the game’s skill and crafting systems.

While the game will be released in multiple languages, this beta will be English only and release information will be announced at a later date.

Diablo is one franchise that has a really dedicated fan base, which has been around for a while. I’m sure that the launch of the closed beta has some gamers foaming at the mouth already. As a fan of RPGs, in all of the shapes and forms they come in, I do have to admit I’m looking forward to Diablo III. With the closed beta announcement, I’m even more excited for the game and I’m eager to see what Blizzard has in store.
