D3 Publisher revealed a teaser website for Earth Defense Force 4 last July, but has been completely silent about the game ever since. This week’s issue of Famitsu officially announced the title, revealing that it will launch in 2013 in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Currently we know very little about EDF 4, other than it is 55% complete (Famitsu regularly states what percentage of an announced game is completed) and it will have some kind of online multiplayer.

So far, a Western release for the game has not been announced. However, Vicious Cycle developed Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon for North America, so it would stand to reason that this new EDF game will make its way West at some point.

For now, EDF fans can rest easy knowing that Earth Defense Force 4 is a thing that is happening. We will let you know as soon as more details are announced.
