Exclusive Preview: Things Get Weird In Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye #11

By

So far, DC’s Young Animal imprint has impressed critics and consumers alike with its outlandish takes on cult favorite characters, while adding some new ones to the publisher’s expansive pantheon as well. If I could succinctly sum up what I’ve seen from this line to date, I’d say it’s like a marriage between Vertigo and DC proper. Basically, it’s the best of both worlds.

In the past, I said that Doom Patrol could probably be labeled as Young Animal’s flagship book, a statement that I stand by. But while Gerard Way’s modern take on the obscure group does have its appeal, I believe that Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye is one of the more inviting to the curious reader. Yes, it’s quite trippy due to Way serving as co-writer, but guest appearances by the likes of Superman and Wild Dog definitely help to attract those who normally stick to familiar titles. Plus, you have to love Bane’s Coloring Corner.

From what we can tell, if issue #11 is to be your jumping on point, expect to be thrust into Cave’s world with no apologies. Boasting almost as many tentacles as your favorite anime, the latest installment sees the titular hero and his allies take on the Whisperer’s forces.

For more of an idea of what to expect, check out the following synopsis:

Earth has fallen beneath the tentacles of the almighty Whisperer! As his terrifying army conquers what’s left of the human race, Cave Carson and Doc Magnus team up to launch a desperate plan, one which has been complicated by the arrival of strange visitors from another dimension!

Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye #11 arrives in comic shops next Wednesday, August 16.
