What does the future hold in store for two of television’s most popular shows, Breaking Bad and Dexter? Let’s find out, shall we. This past week we received news on where both shows are heading and what fans can expect to see from the two TV juggernauts in the coming seasons.

First up, Dexter. Showtime President of Entertainment, David Nevins has been chatting up quite a storm lately. While the show is set to end after season eight, Nevins has said that a ninth season isn’t totally out of the question.

“[Season 8] is the likely endpoint, but I’m leaving open the possibility that plans could change […] I think there’s a very clear trajectory now of where they’re going. I think it’s going to help to write with that endgame in mind. I’ve been pushing to shake up the formula a little bit. I think there should be fundamentally different dynamics now.”

So in addition to admitting he’s open to a ninth season, he does mention something else noteworthy. He talks about shaking things up and implementing different dynamics. The question is, what does he mean by this? Any guesses?

Next up is Breaking Bad. Recently, the show’s star, Bryan Cranston, spoke on where his character (Walter White) was headed and according to him, Mr. White’s time on this earth is almost up.

“I don’t know where it’s going, but I’m pretty damn sure that he’ll die at the end of this show. At the end of this show, Walter White will die. How he will he die? I really, honestly don’t know – and I’ve never asked [Vince Gilligan].

It’s been such a journey for me and for this character that it didn’t make sense for me to know too far ahead, because Walt has no idea what’s ahead for him, even an hour. So I don’t ask [Gilligan], and I don’t read my scripts too far in advance.

I think Walt’s going to a place where he truly enjoys the empowerment that his situation has given him. And even though he knows he’s going out in a year, from lung cancer, he’s going to go out big. He’s going out big.”

If you think about it, this does make sense. Walt does have cancer, so it wouldn’t be too far fetched to think he’s going to die. The question is, will it be the cancer that gets him, or something else? Personally, I think cancer would be a pretty lacklustre way to go out and I’d like to see his death come at the hands of something ‘business’ related.
