Kevin Love Signs Extension With The Timberwolves
The best power forward in the NBA has signed a four-year contract extension that’s worth between $60 and $62 million. Kevin Love’s new deal will include a player option in the final year, but T-Wolves fans have to be ecstatic that their guy wants to stay in Minneapolis. The deadline was 11pm central this evening to get his extension in place otherwise he would have been a restricted free agent after the season. This is not only a good deal for Minnesota, but a good deal for the NBA.
Derrick Rose staying in Chicago, Kevin Durant staying in Oklahoma City, and now Love staying in Minnesota is great for the league. It’s simply good business for the NBA to have their All-Stars stay in their respective markets. While the “Summer of LeBron” was good to get the NBA buzz going, the payoff, or should I say The Decision, actually turned more fans off to the product.
Minnesota might be a year away from even sniffing the playoffs in the deep Western Conference, but Love feels the team is heading the right direction. And with a building block and the face of the franchise Kevin Love, the future is bright.
