Secret Agent Deadpool

Marvel Announces Secret Agent Deadpool Digital Series

In recent years, the House of Ideas has had a lot of fun with Deadpool by placing the character in a variety of outlandish situations. Granted, the unexpected has long been within Wade Wilson's wheelhouse, but when we're treated to out of continuity stories that see him killing the rest of the Marvel Universe - or those in continuity showing him murdering analogs for Batman's parents - odds are those are what we'll remember for years to come.

As it turns out, the next project that’s bound to turn more than a few heads is that of Secret Agent Deadpool, which’ll put somewhat of a James Bond-esque spin on the Merc with a Mouth. Set to released as a six-issue bi-weekly series, it’ll be written by Chris Hastings (Unbelievable Gwenpool, Vote Loki), with interior artwork by by Salva Espin (Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy). As for covers, those will be provided by David Nakayama.

For a general idea of what to expect, here’s a brief synopsis:

A perfect entry point for new fans and longtime readers alike, it’s a case of mistaken identity when Wade Wilson, the regeneratin’ degenerate you know as DEADPOOL, kills an American superspy on a mission to stop the deadly terrorist agency called GORGON! Now, it’s up to Wade to complete his victim’s mission as only he can – with excessive violence, an accelerated healing factor, and maybe, just maybe, a few laughs along the way.

If you were planning on picking this up at your local comic shop, please note that this particular miniseries is part of the ComiXology Originals lineup, therefore it’s a digital exclusive. To be more specific, it’ll run you $2.99 on either ComiXology or Kindle. Or, if you happen to be a ComiXology Unlimited subscriber, it’s free.

Secret Agent Deadpool #1 is slated for release on September 5th.
