When it comes to the more famous romantic couplings the X-Men can lay claim to, it’s probably safe to say that pretty much everybody is familiar with pairings like Jean Grey and Cyclops or Rogue and Gambit. But, to comic book readers, there’s one that we haven’t really seen explored outside of this medium, and that’s Kitty Pryde and Colossus.
But when we take what’s unfolding in the books into account, maybe that’ll change soon enough, as the House of Ideas are allowing us to follow those two fan favorite mutants to the altar in the upcoming X-Men Wedding Special #1. Being a companion of sorts to the “‘Til Death Do Us Part” story arc found in X-Men Gold #26-30, it’ll be penned by series scribe Marc Guggenheim (TV’s Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow) and Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, Rogue & Gambit). Not only that, but the legendary Chris Claremont will be contributing a new story centered on Kitty Pryde as well!

Speaking of which, here’s what Thompson had to say regarding this landmark one-shot:
“X-Men weddings are always a big deal, if only because they’re so rare. I think you probably have to go all the way back to X-Men #30 in 1994 – the wedding of Jean Grey and Cyclops – to get a wedding as potentially big as the wedding of Kitty Pryde and Colossus: two X-Men who’ve been around (and on again/off again) for literal decades.”
When it comes to artwork, expect Greg Land, Marika Cresta and others to be announced to provide interiors. The cover, meanwhile, comes courtesy of the incomparable J. Scott Campbell.
X-Men Wedding Special #1 arrives in comic shops on May 16.
