I personally believe that all up and comers in the music scene deserve all the attention they can get. If an artist has talent and ambition, then they should have no problem finding support. Not many people have the luxury of finding success through connections or the work of others, so it’s always great to see someone become a big name through a DIY work ethic. On that note, allow me to introduce you to Bam, a young rapper coming out of New York with something to say.

Singer and actress Whitney Houston was discovered dead today at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The circumstances around her death have not yet been disclosed. Fox News is reporting that police and emergency vehicles were summoned to the hotel and that both hotel staff and emergency workers attempted to revive her. Fox is also reporting that police saw no signs of criminal intent and are currently investigating the singer’s death.

The Throne have released the music video for their hit song Niggas In Paris. Starting off with a ‘this video may trigger seizures’ warning, Kanye West and Jay-Z’s latest takes us for a wild ride as it shows off some electrifying live footage shot during their Los Angeles stop on their Watch the Throne Tour, where they performed the song 10 times.

Young up-and-comers Farewell Republic are set to release their debut album Burn the Boats on February 21, and to build anticipation, they’ve released a new album trailer that can best be described as strange. Despite the odd video, the music itself is superb, and the 21st can’t come quite fast enough.

I guess it’s true that all good bands come from New York. Hailing from Westchester, Moving Mountains plays a unique brand of ambient indie rock that can lean more towards post-rock fury in the vein of Thrice and Thursday. Their 2011 album Waves was an extraordinary release, and it deserves a listen from anyone who enjoys any type of rock music.

New Nicki Minaj music dropped today. A tagged version of Marilyn Monroe, the female MC’s newest song, has hit the internet for your listening pleasure. No word on if it will be on Nicki’s sophomore LP but I sure hope it is. It’s not exactly “Monster” Minaj but I do like it.

Flo Rida recently appeared on Ellen to perform his hit song Good Feeling, which samples Etta James’ Something’s Got A Hold On Me. The rapper took to the stage with some dancers and a DJ as he ran through his radio/club friendly track.
