It’s time to prepare for another War of the Worlds. Lock up your house, hide in your cold cellar and don’t make a peep, in the hopes that the alien invaders won’t notice you.

Other Ocean Interactive are set to bring H.G. Wells’ classic novel, War of the Worlds, to XBOX Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The game’s narrative will closely follow the 1953 film translation of the classic piece of literature. Despite this, it will also feature “a new story arc, characters, locations, and sub-plots.” Thankfully, it will have nothing to do with the more recent Tom Cruise film.

Like some other “classic cinematic platformers such as Flashback, Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey and Out of This World,” the game will feature rotoscoped graphics and gameplay. A visual treat that gaming press members will be able to check out at next week’s E3.

If the name Other Ocean Interactive doesn’t ring a bell, that’s alright. You’ll most-likely have heard of some of their previous projects: Duty Calls (the Bulletstorm promotional parody,) Dark Void Zero and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for XBOX Live Arcade.

They are currently working on one other project: The Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection for Warner Bros.
