Nintendo of Japan has updated their website to show the first picture of the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro, revealing it to be a massive beast that will require MC Hammer parachute pants-sized pockets to carry around.

The website doesn’t reveal much else about the larger-than-life accessory. Price and date are still listed as “TBD” and the only real bit of information seems to be that it will require its own AAA battery, just like the original 3DS Circle Pad Pro.

To be honest, I’m still amazed that either one of these devices even exist. Before it launched, I expected the original 3DS to have two analog sticks. When that didn’t happen, I assumed that The Big N would correct the oversight with the 3DS XL, if for no other reason than to avoid having to make a super-sized Circle Pad Pro.

And yet, here we are. Starring at a comically large accessory that requires its own power supply, and could have been avoided by putting a second circle pad in the big empty spot on the right side of the handheld.
