A Red Son Rises In Superman #14

A Red Son Rises In Superman #14

If I can say anything about the Superman family of titles, it’s that they have consistently been some of the best comic books DC has put out since the Rebirth era kicked off last June. And even though both Superman and Action Comics essentially share the same cast of characters, the difference in tone has made for two markedly different – yet equally spectacular – ongoings.

Interestingly enough, the latest issue to come from Peter J. Tomasi and Pat Gleason is seemingly less domestic than those that preceded it and gets a bit, shall we say, extradimensional when none other than Red Son Superman puts in an appearance.

Not only that, but the cover and synopsis hint at even more Supermen from across the multiverse showing up, making this somewhat reminiscent of Final Crisis. Our better judgment says to pay close attention to this “Multiplicity” story arc because it may very well have major repercussions on March’s “Superman Reborn” crossover that’s certainly not to be missed. Some of the best stories to involve the Man of Steel are those that fearlessly venture into the fringier aspects of the science fiction genre and early impressions are that this will be a prime example of that.

As for the aforementioned synopsis, here it is for your reading pleasure:

MULTIPLICITY” part one! The New Super-Man of China has been taken! The Red Son Superman of Earth-30 has been beaten! And who knows what’s happened to Sunshine Superman! Someone is collecting Supermen across the Multiverse—this looks like a job for our Kal-El as he is joined by Justice Incarnate in this multi-Earth epic!

Superman #11 arrives in comic shops this Wednesday, January 4.
