According to a report in Variety, the next Batman game from developer Rocksteady will be set in the caped crusader’s Silver Age comics timeline.

The rumour goes that the game will be a “highly stylised” prequel “that revolves around Batman’s first meeting with the Joker.” The Silver Age saw the formation of the Justice League, which could potentially mean that other superheros may appear alongside the Bat.

The game isn’t expected to be out until 2014 at the earliest, but we should start hearing more about it in the near future.

When we do, we’ll keep you posted.
