A fresh round of rumored Wii U specifications hit the Internet today, giving us one last chance to speculate about Nintendo’s upcoming console before their expected announcement of the system’s launch details later this week.
The unconfirmed Wii U spec list is said to have leaked out from the Nintendo development support group WarioWorld, which means it conveniently can’t be confirmed unless you are an authorized Nintendo developer or publisher. So, take all this with a grain of salt.
With that said, if the specs turn out to be true, Nintendo’s upcoming console is fairly decent. The “Espresso” CPU has three “enhanced Broadway cores”, the GPU is an AMD Radeon that will output in HD up to 1080p, there is a full 1GB of memory available for applications (meaning this is what is left for software after the OS takes its share), and it has internal storage of 8GB that can be upgraded through SD cards or external USB hard drives.
Overall, aside from the internal storage, it sounds like the Wii U will be a small step up from the Xbox 360 and PS3. Not anywhere near what one would expect from the Xbox 720 or PS4, mind you, but not at all horrible.
