Publisher Take-Two Interactive has decided to extend the development cycles of two of its major releases: Max Payne 3 and XCOM. Both games have seen their release dates moved into the company’s next fiscal year, which happens to begin on April 1, 2012.

Bullet-time addicts must now look towards May as the time when slow-motion and lead will combine for devastating effect. That happens to be the newly announced release window for Max Payne 3 and its dark plot lines. This means a two month setback for the highly-anticipated sequel.

As for XCOM? All we know is that the re-tooled shooter will be available sometime after April 1. When we find out more, we’ll let you know.

With these two major delays, financial types expect Take-Two to post a net loss for this fiscal year. Although they were expected to post a billion dollars in revenue, that target has been severely decreased. However, it’s looking like next year will be much better for the company, with quite a few big titles scheduled to launch within its time-frame:

Max Payne 3
XCOM
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Borderlands 2
Spec Ops: The Line
+ “other titles yet to be announced”
