We have discovered unfortunate news regarding the planned closure of two different THQ development studios: New York-based Kaos Studios (Frontlines: Fuel of War and Homefront,) and THQ Digital Warrington (Red Faction: Battlegrounds and Warhammer 40K: Kill Team.) We have discovered unfortunate news regarding the planned closure of two different THQ development studios: New York-based Kaos Studios (Frontlines: Fuel of War and Homefront,) and THQ Digital Warrington (Red Faction: Battlegrounds and Warhammer 40K: Kill Team.) An official statement from the publisher has confirmed the news, mentioning that all employees at each of the two studios have been alerted of this news.

No concrete reason for the closures was given, other than mention of a “strategic realignment within THQ’s internal studio structure.” However, that’s not to say that the closure of Kaos Studios is a complete surprise, considering its employees previously raised concern about it.

They feared that their project would be uprooted and moved to a newer and more tax-friendly studio in Montreal, which seems to be exactly what has happened, as all Homefront development will be handled in the French province.

Due to a law regarding 60 days of notice for layoffs and closures in the UK, employees at THQ Digital Warrington were only served notice of an impending closure.

We here at We Got This Covered wish all of those affected the best of luck in finding new employment. THQ is offering some of its employees the chance to interview at their other studios in Toronto and Montreal so hopefully things will work out for the men and women of Kaos Studios.
