Amidst all the flurry of NBA playoff action somehow another piece of non-playoff news leaked out: welcome everybody to the Brooklyn Nets and their official logo. The NBA’s newest team finally released their highly anticipated logo that was personally designed by Jay-Z, the team’s co-owner himself.

During a press conference earlier today, CEO of Nets Basketball Brett Yormark was quoted as saying,

“Today, we launch the next chapter. Boy, this feels good. We’ve been waiting seven years to get to this point.”

Merchandise bearing the new monochrome logo can already be purchased off the official team store NetsStore.com. More information about the logo and the team can be found on the team’s official website.

Back in 2005 the New Jersey Nets announced plans to relocate the team to Brooklyn, New York where they will play in the newly created Barclays Center. On September 26, 2011, the team officially announced that the team’s new name would be the Brooklyn Nets, after the completion of the 2011-12 NBA season.

Check out the team’s welcome video “Hello Brooklyn” and let us know what you think of the logo, below in the comments.
