Ever since it was announced that the legendary Sigourney Weaver would be joining the Marvel universe, fans have been furiously theorizing over who her character in The Defenders could be. Ever since it was announced that the legendary Sigourney Weaver would be joining the Marvel universe, fans have been furiously theorizing over who her character in The Defenders could be. While we don’t know the true identity of the supervillainess just yet, this new clip (seen above) does reveal that she’s an old acquaintance of a familiar face.

The 20-second snippet has Alexandra removing a sack from the head of someone she identifies as an “old friend.” We then find out that it’s none other than Stick, the blind ninja mentor of Daredevil (as played by Scott Glenn).

So, what does this tell us? Well, actually, not much that we couldn’t have worked out before. We already know that Alexandra will be involved with the Hand, the evil ninja organization. It makes sense, then, that she would’ve previously gone up against Stick, who’s a member of the Hand’s enemies the Chaste.

That’s assuming that Alexandra is being sarcastic when she calls Stick an “old friend,” of course. It’s possible that they were actually allies at one point. Maybe Alexandra used to be with the Chaste but crossed sides? Hey, theories range from her being a simple mob boss to Mephisto – the Devil of the Marvel universe – in disguise, so our idea is as valid as any.

This is just the latest micro-clip from The Defenders to be released over the past couple of days as well. Previous ones have seen Foggy Nelson encountering Luke Cage and, probably the most significant, the first meeting of Misty Knight and Colleen Wing (who form the Daughters of the Dragon partnership in the comics).

Starring Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Coulter and Finn Jones, The Defenders arrives this Friday.
