AMC Takes Us Behind The Scenes Of The Walking Dead Season 8B

In anticipation of the upcoming midseason premiere, AMC's released a new featurette that takes us behind the scenes of The Walking Dead season 8B.

The battle for Alexandria may be lost but for Rick Grimes and Co., the war is far from over.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead is due to return on February 25th, and when it does, the show’s impassioned community will be forced to say their goodbyes to young Carl Grimes, who suffered a fatal bite in December’s “How It’s Gotta Be.”

Losing a series regular is never easy, and as producer Greg Nicotero recently teased, the upcoming episode will tug at our heartstrings. Not only that, but the impending death of Rick’s son will be a defining moment that truly redirects him. Or at least, that’s what we’re being told in a new featurette that AMC released earlier today (see above).

Featuring interviews with the cast and crew, the clip previews what’s to come in season 8B of the show. Surprisingly, the focus here isn’t even on Carl, who’s only really mentioned near the end. Instead, the focal point is the battle that’s brewing between Rick and Negan and their respective groups, as we learn about what’s driving our heroes and the obstacles they still face, not to mention their biggest downfall, which is letting emotions interfere with their plans.

At only 2 minutes in length, it’s far from the meatiest featurette out there, but with only a few weeks left before AMC’s hit zombie drama is back on our screens, what’s offered up here will surely tide fans over. Besides, we’ve already seen quite a bit from the upcoming batch of episodes – they’ve gotta keep at least some of it a surprise, right?

It’s time to finish the fight. Season 8 of The Walking Dead returns with “Honor” on February 25th. It’ll be an extended outing, too, lending viewers the chance to savor Carl’s final moments before Chandler Riggs’ small-screen hero heads for the proverbial exit door.
