Filming is well underway on the NYC set of Jessica Jones season 2, and the latest pictures find Krysten Ritter’s Defender in civvies – and no, we’re not talking about that signature combination of leather jacket, black boots and pale blue jeans.

Rather, Ritter’s whip-smart private eye is seen here donning a varsity jacket, a blood-red tee…and a pair of pale blue jeans. Also included in the gallery below is a shot of Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor), along with what appears to be a malfunctioning ATM. And though it’s impossible to know for sure, there’s a very good chance this is actually a flashback scene plucked from Jessica and Trish’s storied history.

After all, the show’s cracking debut season toyed with expectations by hopping between the past and the present – a technique that helped flesh out Jessica’s troubled upbringing, not to mention her abusive relationship with Kilgrave (David Tennant) – so we wouldn’t be too surprised if Jessica Jones season 2 employed the same trick. It would certainly go some way to explaining those comments that the show’s sophomore run will be “dark and heavy” when it arrives in 2018.

Granted, further details on an exact release date were not disclosed at this time – all we know is that Ritter’s reluctant hero will be joining forces with her fellow Defenders on August 18th. Until that ensemble series arrives, though, here’s the latest round of set stills straight from Hell’s Kitchen.

It’s seemingly even more binge-worthy than the first and, if an Entertainment Weekly report is any indication, the second season of Jessica Jones will premiere sometime next year. 2018 is also set to host new installments of Daredevil and Luke Cage, while Finn Jones himself has hinted at a big announcement regarding the future of Iron Fist. Stay tuned for more on that one as additional information comes to light.
