Arrow Executive Producer Talks Season 3 Villain And Flash Crossover

If you're having a hard time handling the anticipation for Arrow's upcoming third season, you may want to turn back now, because executive producer Andrew Kreisberg (who's also lending a helping hand with the show's Flash spin-off) has revealed a few exciting tidbits in a new interview.

We recently heard that the DC TV and film universes would not be crossing paths with each other, but that thankfully doesn’t mean that Green Arrow and the Flash won’t share some screen-time. Considering Barry Allen was introduced on Arrow last year, and exists within the same universe (and television network) as Arrow, path-crossing was bound to happen sooner than later.

Felicity Smoak will be taking a trip from Starling to Central City in episode four of The Flash, and both titular superheroes will cross paths as early as eight episodes into the upcoming seasons. The two-hour crossover comes a bit sooner than I ever expected it to, and could have easily been saved for a mid-season or season finale. However, Kreisberg firmly believes in hitting the ground running, as evidenced by how much they’ve been able to cram in Arrow’s first two years on the air.

On the upcoming crossover event, Kreisberg said:

“It’s really going to be an adventure with the Arrow and Flash on both episodes. Watching the two teams come together and fight alongside each other, it’s one of the most fun parts. We just don’t believe in waiting. We really believe in accelerated storytelling and especially for those first nine episodes of the season – for both shows – hopefully we’ve designed it so that none of these [make you say], “Well, I missed that one, it’s fine.”

Don’t worry though, Kreisberg admits that they can’t let all of the exciting things happen too early, and promises that they have “spectacular and amazing mid-season finales planned for both shows that are both game-changers… and what better way to lead into it than by having this amazing team-up?”

What do you think of Kreisberg’s comments, and who do you think Arrow‘s “Big Bad” will be this season? Sound off in the comments, and be sure to catch The Flash when it premieres on October 7th, 2014, followed by Arrow‘s season three premiere the next day, October 8th, 2014.
