In anticipation for the Arrow panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the CW has released the first trailer for the upcoming third season, which is packed to the gills with new footage.
After a heart-pounding second season, Arrow is really going to need to hit the ground running. Judging by this new trailer, it looks like the series’ impressive momentum is still intact, and things are off to an intense start. We’ve see Roy suited up as Arsenal and fighting alongside Oliver, and Sara Lance returning to Starling as the Canary. On top of that, we’ve got Fargo alum Peter Stormare looking mighty intimidating as the new Count Vertigo, and our first glimpse at former Superman Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer a.k.a. The Atom.
Things look to be shaking up on the personal side, too, as it looks like Oliver and Diggle have a falling out, while Oliver tries finding room for a personal life in between beating criminals to a bloody pulp at night. I’m also happy to see that the flashbacks are going to go in a different direction this season. The island-centric stories in season two failed to really impress me and constantly took the wind out of the show’s sails. It’s cool to see a pre-vigilante Oliver in action on the streets of Hong Kong, where he’ll butt heads with the likes of Amanda Waller and Katana.
Arrow returns on Thursday October 8th, 2014 on the CW.
