Arrow Season 4, Episode 2 Promo: “The Candidate”

Last night's season four premiere of Arrow was better than anyone expected it to be (as you can hopefully tell from our review), especially after the somewhat hit and miss third season. With Oliver Queen finally suiting up as Green Arrow though, the show has become what many have hoped it was going to be since day one, something which was reflected in the episode's great ratings.

With Oliver Queen finally suiting up as Green Arrow though, the show has become what many have hoped it was going to be since day one, something which was reflected in the episode’s great ratings. In fact, the season four premiere of Arrow was the highest rated premiere since the first one, and it was also arguably the best of them, too.

Now, ahead of next week’s episode of The CW series, the network has released a promo which offers up a look at what’s to come now that Oliver has suited up as Green Arrow. As you can see above, the focus is very much on new villain Anarky as well as Captain Lance’s struggle with Damien Darhk. Interestingly, two of the biggest plot threads mentioned in the synopsis below – the hunt for Star City’s new mayor and the introduction of Mister Terrific – are nowhere to be seen, but that no doubt just helps to build the anticipation.

When an old family friend, Jessica Danforth (guest star Jeri Ryan), tells Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) that she is going to run for mayor, both Queens are concerned considering the last three mayors have been murdered. Despite their protests, Jessica makes her announcement so the Green Arrow and Speedy vow to protect her. Meanwhile, Thea begins to exhibit effects from the Lazarus Pit. In addition, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is faced with a tough business decision and looks to one of her employees, Curtis Holt (guest star Echo Kellum), for help.
