Arrow Season 6’s Premiere Won’t Waste Time Letting Us Know Who Survived The Blast

After Arrow season 5 left us on one of the series' greatest cliffhangers to date, which we've never hesitated referring to as a literally "explosive finale," the question on our minds and those of millions of other viewers is just who survived the blast Prometheus had been responsible for.

Well, we do know that Juliana Harkavy will return as Dinah Drake, not only because she’s been promoted to being a series regular, but also because the first official image of her donning the Black Canary costume was released last week. Likewise, Katie Cassidy and Rick Gonzalez will be counted among the principal cast, as they reprise their roles as Black Siren and Wild Dog, respectively.

So, aside from other reports implying that Felicity Smoak and Quentin Lance are also still among the living, we’re guessing that pretty much everybody made it out alive, except for maybe Oliver Queen’s baby mama. Well, according to TV Guide Magazine’s Comic-Con Special, season 6 will pick up five months later, so we should “quickly learn the fates of Oliver’s entire team.”

Actually, there’s one guy we’re not expecting to show up, and that’s John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn. After making the hero’s play by sacrificing himself so that his daughter, Thea, could live, it all but appears that he gave up the ghost. But, as executive producer Marc Guggenheim says, we may not have seen the last of him:

“Death is not an impediment to any character reappearing on any of the [Arrowverse] shows. We’ve got time travel, we’ve got parallel universes and we’ve got flashbacks.”

Arrow returns for its sixth season on Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
