AMC’s smart-mouthed criminal lawyer is coming back to the small screen via Netflix in early 2016, and EW has showcased a pair of Better Call Saul teasers and a gag reel from the show’s maiden outing to ready us for the arrival of season 2.

First up, the rather brilliant outtakes from season 1. Yes, Better Call Saul may be more lighthearted in tone when held up against its parent series Breaking Bad, but there are scenes of tension and outright heartbreak littered all across Vince Gilligan’s offshoot.

Telling the origins tale of one Jimmy McGill, the series explores the humble beginnings of the cunning con man long before he assumed the role of criminal lawyer, including his troubled relationship with his estranged brother Chuck, and the fan-favorite relationship with Mike Ehrmantraut – who hasn’t claimed the title of World’s Best Grandad just yet.

Even still, today’s gag reel showcases some of the lighter moments on set. Arriving by way of Entertainment Weekly, here’s the clip in question.

Switching gears into something more serious, the first teasers for Better Call Saul season 2 don’t offer much in terms of new footage – as evidenced by the first-look set photos, it’s still early days on AMC’s series – with each sizzle reel pulling a significant chunk of dialogue from the critically-acclaimed first season.

Due to return to the airwaves early next year – February, we assume – Bob Odenkirk will once again reprise his role as everyone’s favorite criminal lawyer, and though Gilligan and Co. may be keeping Breaking Bad‘s leading players and Walter White on the sidelines for the time being, we expect that Better Call Saul season 2 will continue to dovetail the two stories out on the sun-kissed Albuquerque outback.
