Brandon Routh Discusses Whether Hawkman And Hawkgirl Will Return To Legends Of Tomorrow

Although Legends of Tomorrow was said to have been originally intended to be an anthology series, we've still been witness to there being a revolving door of sorts on the Waverider. In short, each passing season has seen at least a few heroes come and go, sometimes even in midstream (just as both halves of Firestorm).

And while each series making up the rich Arrowverse have seen their share of surprising returns, Legends itself hasn’t heard from two key members of the team’s original lineup since the end of season 1. We are, of course, referring to Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

When speaking at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Nashville over the weekend, actor Brandon Routh had this to offer when asked if his winged friends will ever make a comeback:

“I don’t know about Hawkgirl and Hawkman. I think they’re off in hawk, not heaven, but hawk world. They just flew off, enjoying a tropical adventure, finally being together and not having Vandal Savage chase them. They can finally have their requited love.”

Well, Routh is right about those two characters having been granted somewhat of a conclusive sendoff. Regardless, there are probably a fair amount of fans out there wondering what those literal lovebirds have been up to in the time since splintering off.

Naturally, any possible return hinges on the availability of the actors who portrayed the respective Hawks. And though the characters themselves have been reincarnated hundreds of times, it’s been established that each passing iteration has been identical to that of their Egyptian originals, so recasting would seem like quite the odd move.

As usual, though, we’ll never say never and will be tuning in for Legends of Tomorrow‘s fourth season when the show returns to The CW this fall.
