Fans were stunned when season one of Arrow ended with a wide-shot of the Glades crumbling after a second device took everyone by surprise and triggered a devastating man-made earthquake. Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) and The Undertaking may have succeeded in levelling the Glades, but I don’t think even Merlyn would agree that it was worth the price they paid.
A good portion of Starling City realty is now in shambles, thousands of their residents are homeless (or worse) – including Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), who has grown past his ‘bad boy’ persona and into an everyday hero – and our favorite vigilante is suffering a major personal loss.
Just because Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) doubles as a super hero who lives by a strict code of ethics and can sometimes appear a tad cold-hearted, doesn’t mean that he isn’t feeling this one. There will be no shortage of big news stories making headlines after that Earth-shaking night, but it’s no doubt that Tommy Merlyn’s (Colin Donnell) death will be one of them. Things have been rough between Oliver and Tommy since even before the Arrow secret was revealed, and now with Tommy becoming a casualty of the war Oliver has been waging against those who failed the city – the island probably isn’t looking like the worst option.
Returning for season 2 along with Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/’The Hood’ will be the familiar faces of Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson, Colton Haynes as Roy Harper and Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, with Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
The CW is also adding some characters that fans of the source material will be excited about. Some of the new faces to watch for are Caity Lotz as Black Canary, Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger, Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin and of course, The Flash, who will show up during the latter part of the season.
It looks like everyone’s getting in on the action in this first look at season 2 of Arrow. Check it out below and let us know if you’ll be tuning in on October 9th when Arrow returns to the CW!
