As promised, Marvel brought Daredevil to NYCC on Saturday and did not leave fans disappointed. Not only did we get some awesome concept art designed by legendary comics artist and editor Joe Quesada (who drew Daredevil for Kevin Smith’s run in 1999), but we finally got an official synopsis and our very first look at Charlie Cox (Stardust) in costume as both Matt Murdock and his alter-ego, the titular Man Without Fear!

As you can see, the all-black costume is extremely basic and isn’t quite the red superhero outfit that we’re used to. In fact, its more reminiscent of the Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. outfit that we saw in Daredevil: Man Without Fear. That was an origin story and is one of the most beloved Daredevil titles, so it makes perfect sense that showrunner Steven S. DeKnight would borrow from it quite liberally.

The image of Cox as Matt Murdock, on the other hand, is pretty much what you’d expect from Daredevil’s secret identity and is exactly what we saw of him from some previous leaked set photos.

Daredevil does not yet have an official release date, but it’s expected to hit Netflix in summer 2015. Check out the new photos below, followed by the series’ synopsis, and let us know what you think.

Marvel’s Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.
