This year’s yuletide episode is more special than most, though, and that’s due to a bunch of reasons. For one, it sees the return of the First Doctor (as played by Harry Potter‘s David Bradley) as the original Time Lord teams up with his Twelfth self. As well as supporting roles for outgoing companion Pearl Mackie and Who stalwart Mark Gatiss, the special – titled “Twice Upon A Time” – will also be Peter Capaldi’s final bow in the lead role. As you surely know, Jodie Whittaker is set to takeover as the Thirteenth Doctor, with her first scene dropping at the end of the episode.

If you can’t wait until December 25th for this special treat, you might just be in luck, as certain cinemas are screening the episode in the run-up to Christmas. The thing is that these theaters are exclusively in the North of England. Which is to say that any fans who hail from the likes of Manchester, Newcastle, York and other areas will have the opportunity to catch the special from December 14th.

Here’s the full list of showings:

December 14 – Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre
December 15 – The Guildhall, York
December 16 – Jubilee Church, Hull
December 17 – St Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle
December 18 – The Middlesbrough Empire, Middlesbrough
December 19 – Dock 10, MediaCityUK, Manchester
December 20 – Durham School
December 22 – Old Odeon, Bradford

The best part is that these screenings will be totally free, as those fans who wish to attend can register to win tickets to the event as part of a competition run by the BBC. You can find out how to get involved here and if you’re local to any of these areas, you have until December 3rd to enter.

If you live in the US and are feeling left out, then turn that frown upside down, as it was previously revealed that theatres across America will screen “Twice Upon A Time” on December 27th. The episode will be bookended by an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the special, too.

For the rest of us, Doctor Who “Twice Upon A Time” airs on BBC One/America on Christmas Day.
