Doctor Who Season 10 Blu-Ray To Include Tons Of Juicy Extras

There's been much to enjoy from Doctor Who's last few seasons - Peter Capaldi, Michelle Gomez, the odd standout episode here and there - but ultimately, it's been a bit scattershot in quality. It took a while for the Twelfth Doctor's era to find itself, which meant it lacked the cohesive quality of David Tennant and Matt Smith's eras. Seasons 8 and 9 were enjoyable TV, don't get us wrong, but not up to the expected quality of the show.

With season 10, though, Doctor Who finally got its groove back. It seems that, as this was the final run for both Peter Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat, they decided to go all out in making it a year to remember. Due to the erratic scheduling of the Capaldi era – there was no season at all in 2016 – season 10 was hands down the best run of the show in a good long time.

Looking at the first few outings, in particular, the writers really went back to formula, which is no bad thing. It all kicked off with an episode set in the present day, before the next one forwarded to the far future and then the third went back into the past. Subsequent outings included a classic spooky ‘haunted house’ tale, a dystopian alternate timeline story and more of an old fashioned space-faring adventure. Put together, they made for a great range of episodes that, on the whole, were very enjoyable. Not to mention that the finale was spectacular, too.

So, you can imagine how excited we are then to pick up season 10 when it hits Blu-Ray, DVD and limited edition Steelbook on November 13th. Detailed today by the BBC, we can now tell you about some of the extras that you’ll be treated to should you choose to take the Doctor’s latest adventures home with you.

Of course, the only thing that we won’t be getting on the disc is the upcoming Christmas special, “Twice Upon A Time.” Still, if you consider yourself a fan, season 10 of Doctor Who is a must-buy. If for no other reason then it marks Capaldi’s last hurrah as the iconic character, and as one of the best actors to ever take on the role, we’ll surely be re-watching his finest hours for years to come. Will you?
