This time, we get an idea as to how the crew at S.T.A.R. Labs are dealing with Barry’s absence. Obviously, Cisco Ramon is working tirelessly to find a way to bring back his best friend, but it seems as though Iris West has begrudgingly accepted her beloved’s departure.

To be honest, her no-nonsense approach may just be her way of coping with the loss, but we fully expect her spirit to be lifted before long due to the fact that she and Barry are set to get married at some point this season. Right now, it remains unknown as to exactly when that’ll happen, but when you consider that her bachelorette party will take place in episode 5, the ceremony itself shouldn’t be far behind.

Surprisingly, the Scarlet Speedster himself is mostly absent from this particular promo, which bears a much more somber tone than we thought it would. In the past, the producers promised less doom and gloom than in season 3, so we expect them to make good on that if they hope to recapture the glory of the show’s first two years.

The Flash returns for its fourth season on Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
