Game Of Thrones Season 7 Action Shots Signal A Homecoming For Daenerys

Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen returns to her ancestral home in the latest pair of action shots for Game of Thrones season 7.

Meet Daenerys Targaryen. You know her, of course; she’s the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. It’s quite the mouthful, but Dany’s historic legacy is part of the reason why Emilia Clarke’s Protector of the Realm has become a bona fide fan-favorite throughout the course of Game of Thrones, and with season 7, it looks as though Daenerys will pay a visit to her ancestral home: Dragonstone.

Situated within the famous Blackwater Bay, going off these latest action shots unearthed by Making Game of Thrones, we assume Emilia Clarke’s messiah figure makes a pitstop at Dragonstone on her journey toward Westeros. Long before Stannis and his army took shelter in the famous castle – a castle decorated with dragon-shaped gargoyles and a cavernous throne room – Dragonstone was one of the more prominent landmarks in all of the Seven Kingdoms, and it’ll be fascinating to watch Daenerys react to that sense of history when the seventh season of Game of Thrones premieres in two weeks’ time.

That action shot in question is embedded above alongside a new still of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen), and it appears the latter hasn’t lost his knack for political scheming. Is Sansa beginning to question her allegiances? And how will this affect her relationship with her half-brother (and newly-appointed King in the North) Jon Snow? Granted, Kit Harington’s bastard may be going by a brand new name by the time season 7 drops, and it’s one that all ties back to the Targaryens and their storied past.

Comprised of seven episodes in total, Game of Thrones season 7 will make its bow via HBO on Sunday, July 16th. The eighth and final instalment will be with us in 2018 – presuming the network doesn’t reshuffle its lineup – and it may well include feature-length episodes, according to series sound designer Paula Fairfield.
