With little over a month until its much-anticipated return, AMC has unveiled a piece of key art for The Walking Dead Season Five.
Teasing the remaining eight episodes, the image sees Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes stare ominously towards the camera, with the main focus being on a discarded map with scrawled writing on it that reads: “The New World’s Gonna Need Rick Grimes.”
Following the events hitherto, Rick and his ragtag crew now find themselves on the road once again, with the possibility of a fabled cure lurking within Washington D.C.. Close to breaking point, it’s up to Lincoln’s fearless leader to wrestle things under control as their collective hope teeters dangerously close to the brink.
With a sixth season already on the way alongside the upcoming companion series — which is primed to take the flesh-eating action to Los Angeles — AMC’s reanimated juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, given that TWD pulled in close to 15 million viewers as it approached its midseason hiatus, it’s no wonder that the network wants to extrapolate the action to another locale. It’s understood that The Walking Dead is now the most-watched television show among that coveted 18-49 demographic.
Taking inspiration from Robert Kirkman’s seminal comic book, Lincoln will be joined once again by Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chad Coleman, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira and Sonequa Martin-Green.
The Walking Dead Season Five will return for its final eight episodes on Sunday, February 8 at 9PM.
