Gotham Season 2 Trailer Teases Rise Of The Villains

Jim Gordon may have had his hands full in Gotham's first season, but things are only going to get more dangerous for the future police commissioner this fall, as season two has been dubbed "Rise of the Villains." Among the rogues that will roam the streets this year are Mr. Freeze (who has yet to be cast), a young Joker (Cameron Monaghan, reprising his role from last season), Tigress (newcomer Jessica Lucas) and her brother, Theo Galavan (James Frain).

A new teaser for the upcoming season has been released this week, showing brief glimpses of those mentioned above (with the exception of Freeze, unfortunately), as well as shots of returning foes like Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin, Cory Michael Smith’s Riddler and Anthony Carrigan as Victor Zsasz.

You can watch the promo above, and check out the premiere’s official synopsis below. Gotham will return on Monday, September 21st, 2015 on Fox.

The good. The evil. The beginning.

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?

GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
