Jerome in season 3 of Gotham

Gotham Synopsis Promises A Jerome-less Midseason Premiere

Aside from the show being forced to take a vacation for several months, it's probably safe to say that one of the major reasons that a fair amount of us are looking forward to Gotham's midseason premiere is because we expected that Jerome Valeska would heavily factor into it, right? After all, not only was he involved in the midseason finale's cliffhanger, but he's been prominently featured in promos and social media teasers in the time since.

Well, unfortunately, it looks like we’ll likely have to wait until the episode to follow to see what lies ahead for Jerome and how this whole “birthing” of the Joker will come about. And that’s because as you can plainly see, there’s no mention of him at all in the official synopsis for “A Dark Knight: Pieces of a Broken Mirror”:

Gordon is called to the scene after The Toy Maker is hired to assassinate one of Gotham’s doctors. Lee Thompkins begins to try to rebuild the Narrows, with Nygma as her partner. Meanwhile, Alfred’s new life in the Narrows becomes complicated and Ivy (guest star Peyton List) reveals her new persona to Selina in the all-new “A Dark Knight: Pieces of a Broken Mirror” spring premiere episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, March 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

And if you require more evidence, here’s the credited guest cast for said episode:

Peyton List as Ivy Pepper, Chris Perfetti as Cosmo Krank, Brian J. Carter as Coroner, Caissie Levy as Tiffany Gale, Lacretta as Madame

On the plus side, we’ll at least finally get to see Peyton List debut as the third iteration of Poison Ivy. And aside from bearing witness to that – believe me, I’m personally intrigued to see how that pans out – expect to see the show continue exploring lesser known villains, as you probably noticed the Toy Maker being mentioned in the info found above.

Just don’t confuse him with the Dollmaker or Toyman, especially not the latter. Because he’s his own guy. Really.

Gotham returns with new episodes on Thursday, March 1st on Fox.
