Now, star Grant Gustin’s shared another glimpse at the outfit in the form of a selfie he posted on his Instagram account which sees him in the Flash’s new threads sans cowl. He captioned the image: “Was given the “ok” to give you guys a little bonus sneak peek. I took this shot late last night during our night shoot. I was clearly feeling myself. I truly love this suit.”

The thing that grabbed most people’s attention in the other picture was the absence of the chin-strap on this version of the suit, a first for the TV show’s costume but very much in keeping with the comics. Without his mask, though, this BTS image lets us see the bodysuit a little better and for one thing, it’s clear that the new spandex material gives it a different shape than the old leather design and again, looks closer to the body-hugging outfit from the page.

It’s not really worth bringing in physics when talking about a superhero who can run extremely fast thanks to a bolt of lightning, but this suit also looks like something that an actual athlete would wear, as it would be more useful for sprinting than the leather one. Gustin definitely seems to prefer it, too, going by his caption.

Judging by the Comic-Con trailer, it seems that Barry will need a new suit once his old one gets wrecked in battle. Handily, Nora – his daughter from the future – has “a spare,” contained inside the iconic Flash ring from the comics. Though those leaked pics weren’t the best, the poster and now Gustin’s snap show the costume off in a much better light and we’re certainly looking forward to seeing it in action when The Flash returns to The CW on October 9th.
