The New Green Arrow Takes Point In Latest Featurette

Last week, Arrow fans experienced quite the shocker at the end of “Tribute” when Oliver Queen passed the Green Arrow mantle to John Diggle. Basically, Ollie wants to assure that his son, William, has no fear of losing yet another parent. Thus, it only made sense to him that he hang up his bow.

So, even though Diggle has suited up in Oliver’s stead a few times in the past, that doesn’t mean this gargantuan shift didn’t come as any less of a surprise – especially when we’ve been told that this new status quo will remain in place for the time being.

Having said that, it’s about time we obey memes by respecting the past and embracing the future. As such, executive producer and co-showrunner Wendy Mericle prepares us for “Next of Kin” in the latest featurette. Not only does she tease the hard journey ahead that awaits Diggle, but she also hypes up the debut of Onyx. If you’re not familiar with that villain from the comics, know that she can be found in the animated movie Batman: Bad Blood.

Elsewhere, Oliver attempts transitioning to a more domestic lifestyle. And even though he’s seemingly given up his nighttime hobby, we doubt it’ll be much easier balancing his job as mayor with being a father. Plus, “Olicity” looks to make a comeback this week, so we’re sure at least a few of you will be pleased with that.

DC CHARACTER ONYX VISITS STAR CITY — A rogue black ops team led by Onyx (guest star Chastity Dotson) breaks into Kord Industries and steals something lethal. Oliver (Stephen Amell) struggles to connect with William (guest star Jack Moore) so he reaches out to a surprising source for help. Kevin Tancharoen directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Oscar Balderrama (#603).

Arrow airs on Thursday nights on The CW.
