It was recently revealed that CBS’ Supergirl was looking for an actor to play Toyman, and they’ve now chosen Mission: Impossible and Revenge actor Henry Czerny to take on the role of the iconic Superman villain.
He’s only set to appear in the one episode for now, but like villains from Arrow and The Flash, it’s easy to imagine that he might return somewhere down the line.
There have been a few different versions of Toyman over the years, though most fans assumed that Jeremy Jordan (Winslow “Winn” Schott) might be taking on the role in Supergirl. However, it has previously been revealed that there will be a link between the two, and the official description for this villain confirms that:
“Winslow Schott, Sr. is a classic D.C. supervillain, a mad criminal genius known as Toyman – and Winn’s estranged father. Toyman weaponizes toys to wreak destruction and revenge but is ultimately driven by one thing – the obsessive desire to reunite with his beloved son.”
So, Winn is his son, and not Toyman himself. That makes a lot of sense, and it will definitely be interesting to see how Supergirl handles that dynamic.
