While Superman probably won’t be making a full blown appearance in Supergirl any time soon, plenty of other characters from the comic books will be. The latest is Red Tornado, and the Justice League member will be played by Israeli actor Iddo Goldberg, who’s best known for appearing in Defiance, Salem, and The Tourist.

According to the official description from CBS, the character was designed for the army by scientist T.O. Morrow and is the world’s most nefarious android who is capable of devastating National City. Once free from the U.S. government’s grip, Red Tornado sets out on a path of destruction that only Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) will be able to stop.

Based on his heroic nature in the comic books though, you have to believe that it won’t be long before Red Tornado sees the error of his ways and ends up becoming a hero. Whether or not he’ll then become a recurring part of the series remains to be seen; it could be that this is just a one off appearance.

The guest cast of Supergirl is mighty impressive, with other recent additions including Jenna Dewan-Tatum as Lucy Lane, the younger sister of Lois Lane; Chris Browning as supercharged adversary, Ben Krull, aka Reactron; and Peter Facinelli as billionaire troublemaker Maxwell Lord.

So far, things are looking quite promising for CBS’ upcoming series, and we’re looking forward to seeing it premiere on October 26th at 8:30pm EST.
