Fox has released the first official images from next week’s episode of Gotham, and they put the spotlight not only on the villainous Firefly, but also Michael Chiklis’ Captain Barnes. There are plenty of familiar faces in the above gallery, too, including Selina Kyle, Jim Gordon and Dr. Leslie Thompkins.

The highlight here though has to be Firefly. Gotham has taken a unique approach to the character by not only introducing the villain years before Bruce Wayne dons the Cape and Cowl, but by making him a her. Based on last night’s episode though, the show has definitely made the right decision.

Here’s the official synopsis for next week’s episode of Gotham, courtesy of Fox:

After Bridgit Pike (guest star Michelle Veintimilla) rejoins her brothers, a new spark of courage ignites within her, as she chooses to take control of her future. Meanwhile, Kringle and Nygma’s relationship will take a new step and Penguin and Galavan continue to battle for control of Gotham City’s underworld.

Season two of Gotham has so far been a major improvement on the first half of season one, and the show has managed to keep the momentum from those later episodes going this year. How the rest of the season will develop remains to be seen, but based on these images, things are definitely looking good.
