Something we are all guilty of doing over the course of the summer hiatus is speculating which heroes and villains will appear on the upcoming seasons of our favorite comic book based TV shows. Both The Flash and Gotham have wasted no time tapping into the deep wells that are their source material during their first two seasons. And, according to spoiler king Mike Ausiello, some major additions are indeed on the way for both shows.
First, let us discuss The Flash. With the threats of Reverse Flash and Zoom behind Barry Allen, one has to wonder who will possibly make things difficult for him next – and hope that it’s not another speedster. One reader who had Mirror Master on the brain asked about his inclusion, and got the following response:
I’m seeing nothing firm (yet) on Mirror Master being introduced, but here’s a curious new breakdown to wrap your noodle around: For Season 3, the CW hit is casting the major recurring character of Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own….
While that breakdown could go either way, I have to admit that someone hiding a secret certainly does sound a bit villainous. To be quite honest, I can totally see that panning out to be Mirror Master, but anything is possible. I’d expect some kind of announcement to come next month at San Diego Comic Con.
As for Gotham, Ausiello confirms that a casting call for a character previously codenamed “Valerie” is indeed that of Vicki Vale. Oftentimes a love interest for Batman, this iteration of the character will still be a journalist, only in her late 20s, putting a considerable age difference between she and Bruce Wayne. Something tells me that if the two were to date in this universe it won’t be anytime soon.
As always, let us know what you think of this news in the comments section below, along with some other characters you would love to see appear on The Flash and Gotham.
