As we patiently await tonight’s episode of Gotham, Fox has opted to release two riveting clips from the episode titled “Mad Grey Dawn.” If the footage given is any indication of what is to come, we are in for quite the ride.

In the first clip, Penguin visits the grave of his recently departed mother. While there, he is confronted by a mysterious man named Elijah Van Dalh, who happens to be his father. It is a rather gripping scene that I can’t wait to see expanded upon.

This is not the first time Paul Reubens has played the father of Oswald Cobblepot. Don’t forget that he was Penguin’s pappy way back in the 1992 film, Batman Returns. The similarities between the two end there, though, as you can expect Gotham to go in a much different direction.

The second clip sees Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock ordered to investigate a robbery/failed bombing, but not before Gordon is stopped dead in his tracks when a different sort of bomb blows up in his face: the investigation into Theo Galavan’s murder has been reopened.

Nathaniel Barnes has been quite suspicious of Gordon and his testimony over the course of the last few episodes. If it does get out that Jim, not Penguin, pulled the trigger on the former mayor, he runs the risk of losing his job for the umpteenth time.

For more details, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

Gordon and Bullock investigate a trail of clues left in a museum robbery, which, unbeknownst to them, were left by Nygma in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse. Meanwhile, Gordon’s past comes back to haunt him when an anonymous person threatens to expose his hand in Galavan’s murder. Also, Penguin’s visit to some old friends leads him to meet his father, Elijah Van Dalh (guest star Paul Reubens), and Bruce practices his street smarts.

Gotham airs Monday nights at 8:00 pm EST on Fox.
