In addition to having to contend with a returning Ricardo Diaz and the fabled Longbow Hunters, we’ve learned that Team Arrow will also be confounded by yet another villain before long, that being Javelin. I’m sure that you may be wondering just who this guy is because he’s somewhat obscure, so I’ll cover the basics momentarily.
Normally thought of as being a nuisance to Green Lantern Hal Jordan and somewhat campy in nature because, well, he makes the conscious decision to go by the name of “Javelin,” it’s expected that the producers of this TV series will put a grittier spin on the character. In fact, he may end up being a contemporary for Curtis Holt since, don’t forget, Mr. Terrific was once an Olympian.
Here’s the lowdown on the character, courtesy of the folks over at That Hashtag Show:
Described as smart and ruthless, Leonard Gibbons, aka Javelin, is a French chemical weapons trader. In the midst of a huge ongoing deal, he does business with an undercover Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific, bringing Team Arrow squarely into the mix. The studio is currently on the lookout for a French-speaking male in his 30s to take on what was described as a “large principle role.”
Like I said earlier, Javelin isn’t all that well known outside of comics, having played very minor roles on animated series such as Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold in the past. But again, we’re expecting for the producers to take some creative liberties.
Hopefully it won’t be long before some casting news comes down the grapevine. In addition to this evildoer, we’re still waiting on confirmation as to whether the Ted Kord version of Blue Beetle will get in on the action, so the next few months should indeed be exciting.
Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15th on The CW.
